GM, Chrysler among 856,000 vehicles recalled: See recent recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for General Motors’ recall of more than 460,000 cars for a transmission issue that could lead to the rear wheels locking up.
Are you looking to see if any recalls were issued on your vehicle? If the car isn’t listed below, owners can check USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for new recalls. The NHTSA website allows you to search for recalls based on your vehicle identification number or VIN.
Here is what you need to know about the vehicle recalls published by NHTSA from Nov. 10 to Nov. 16.

Rivian is recalling 5,128 of its 2025 R1T trucks and R1S SUVs because a software update (version 2024.39.30) may prevent certain exterior lights from turning on when the Car Costume feature is activated, the NHTSA report said.  The report said that deactivated exterior lighting reduces the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers which increases the risk of a crash.
Rivian has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Dec. 18. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian’s number for this recall is FSAM-1552.
Recalled Rivian vehicles (5,128):
Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 16,759 of its 2014-2016 Range Rover vehicles.  The luxury vehicles company said in a NHTSA report that “the front suspension upper knuckle joint may crack, which can result in suspension arm detachment.”
Suspension arm detachment can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control which can increase the risk of a crash, the report said.
To fix the issue, dealers will inspect the front suspension knuckles and install a retaining bracket or replace the knuckle, as necessary. This service will be completed for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Jan. 3, 2025. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover’s number for this recall is N759.
Recalled Jaguar vehicles (16,759):
Honda is recalling 23,483 of its 2016-2025 Metropolitan scooters because “an improper seal between the transmission case and left-side crankcase may allow transmission fluid to leak,” the company said in a NHTSA report.
A transmission fluid leak can cause the driveshaft bearings to fail, which may result in a sudden loss of drive power and increase the risk of a crash, the report said.
Honda dealers will inspect and repair the transmission case as necessary for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Dec. 20. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda’s number for this recall is KR0.
Recalled Honda scooters (23,483):
Ford is recalling 2,418 of its 2024-2025 F-150 trucks and 2024 Expedition and 2024 Lincoln Navigator SUVs equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine because “the engines may have a misaligned engine cup plug, which can result in a rapid oil leak,” the automobile manufacturer said in a NHTSA report.
A rapid oil leak could cause the engine to stall, which can increase the risk of a crash, the report said. In addition, an oil leak near an ignition source, like a hot engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire, the report said.
To fix the issue, dealers will inspect the engine cup plug alignment and replace the plug if necessary. This service will be completed for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Dec. 2. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 24S70.
Recalled Ford vehicles (2,418);
Ford is recalling 27,678 of its 2020-2025 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, 2020-2024 Escape, Lincoln Corsair, 2018-2024 F-150 trucks, Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs because the air bag warning label may be missing from the dashboard, the company said in the NHTSA report.
Without a label that shows the proper restraint usage guidelines, the passengers may have an increased risk of injury in a crash, the report said.  In addition, the government agency said that these Ford vehicles “fail to comply with the requirement Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, ‘Occupant Crash Protection.’”
Ford will mail owners with the recalled vehicles the warning labels for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Dec. 16. Owners may call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 24C39.
Recalled Ford vehicles (27,678):
Hyundai is recalling 34,964 of its 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs because “the overhead console rear sunshade switch knob may not be fully recessed, which can result in unintentional closing of the sunshade,” the NHTSA report said.
A sunshade that closes unexpectedly can increase the risk of injury, the report said. The Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid vehicles “fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, ‘Power-Operated Window, Partition and Roof Panel Systems,’’ NHTSA said.
Dealers will replace the switch knobs for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Jan. 6, 2025. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 270.
Recalled Hyundai vehicles (34,964):
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 206,502 of its 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs because “a malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC),” the company said in the NHTSA report.
First, when a vehicle can be started and shifted out of park without applying the brake pedal, it can cause a vehicle rollaway, NHTSA said. Second, disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control while driving. Third, brake lights that fail to illuminate can fail to indicate the driver’s intention while in traffic, the report said.
A remedy for this issue is currently under development. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Dec. 5. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA’s number for this recall is 94B. This recall replaces previous recall number 22V-426. Vehicles previously remedied under 22V-426 will need to have the new remedy completed.

A rear wheel lock-up or moving in an unintended direction can increase the risk of a crash, the company said in a NHTSA report.
For free, dealers will update the transmission control module software calibration. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Dec. 23. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM’s number for this recall is N242471620.
